How do I meet up with the group?

The tour begins in downtown Bordeaux approximately 1:30 pm on May 25, 2018.   Pickup will be at central location in the historic center.  It is strongly advised that all participants arrive in Bordeaux the day before to avoid any missed connections with the group.  (Wine-Knows will be happy to arrange for early arrival accommodations).

What about airfare?

What accommodations will be used?

One of the hallmarks of our brand is seeking out those oh-so-special spots to stay.  We look for historical properties that ooze Old World charm, but offer the latest in 21st century creature comforts as well as excellent service.  In the case of Bordeaux, we have leased a dazzling historic Grand Cru private chateau for 3 nights on the Left Bank.  Four other nights will be on the Right Bank in a small Grand Cru winemaking chateau located just outside the city walls of St Emilion.  Here are details for both of these venues:

Private 18th century Grand Cru chateau filled with antiques.  Referred to as the “Versailles of the Medoc,” this fairytale estate is one of the most beautiful wine-producing chateaux in France.   Chateau Beychevelle is the equivalent of a 5 star hotel.  Wine-Knows will have full run of the large castle and its magnificent gardens.

Beychevelle offers 5 star quality accommodations & service

Wine-producing chateau within walking distance of France’s most charming wine village.  Located in the middle of vineyards, this Grand Cru Chateau boasts 10 comfortable bedrooms.  All are individually decorated combing Old World antiques with modern touches.  Many have vineyard views.

Each room is different and decorated with a different theme.

This wine-making chateau is a peaceful retreat in which to recover from jet lag.

What culinary experiences will be offered?

Dining experiences have been mindfully selected. Meals will be special culinary events, ranging from a sophisticated Michelin-star restaurant, to high-end catered events at Bordeaux’s most famous chateaux.

What are the mobility and physical requirements of this trip?

Participants must in good physical health and be able to keep up with the pace of the group.  The tour often requires climbing two or more flights of stairs in wineries, walking distances of up to 3/4 mile (1200 meters) at a moderate gait, and negotiating cobble-stone streets and other irregular surfaces including dirt, gravel and/or wet surfaces.

Participants will be required to carry their own hand luggage and personal items.  Concerns over any aspect of the tour’s physical requirements should be addressed with Wine Knows before placing the trip deposit.

Back

What clothing should I bring?

The tour will be business casual. Men need to bring a sport coat (tie optional) for the more formal evenings, & women should plan a similar level of attire (cocktail dress or fancy pantsuit).  Bring non-skid shoes for visits to wineries...floors may be wet & filled with a variety of equipment which can cause safety hazards. Also, pack a swimsuit one of the chateau has a pool.

What type of weather should I expect?

Late May in Bordeaux averages in the high 60’s during the day.  Evenings can be cool due to the cooling effects of the nearby Atlantic so plan accordingly.

Back

What are my options as a single traveler?

The price is based upon double occupancy.  Should you wish to share a room, every attempt will be made to find you a roommate (most of the time we have been quite successful in doing so), however if we are unable to find you a roommate, you will need to pay the single supplement of $1360 US.

Back

How much free time is available?

We have provided free time as detailed in the itinerary.  It is not mandatory that you attend all of the planned experiences, although most of our clients do.  This is your trip---if you would rather sleep in, shop, or simply chill out, then do so!

Back

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes.  We accept payment through PayPal (PayPal.com).  Since PayPal charges us a fee, this fee must added to the cost of the trip.
